Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) (90 minutes)
2025-26 School Year Virtual Sessions Tuesday, September 9, 2025 4:00-5:30pm Tuesday, November 18, 2025 4:00-5:30pm Thursday, January 22, 2026 4:00-5:30pm Thursday, April 16, 2026 4:00-5:30pm Tamarack Grief Resource Center Facilitators will train attendees in Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize and respond to the warning signs of a suicide crisis using the steps of Question, Persuade and Refer. You will come away empowered with practical tips for communicating openly about suicide and increased comfort discussing mental health. Objectives:

Hybrid: Grief in Schools: Fostering Compassion Resilience
October 16, 2025 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Children face additional challenges integrating losses into their lives related to developmental influences and a limited repertoire of coping tools. School personnel are uniquely poised to provide support. We will explore different grief styles, identify the differences between kids and adult grief, and ideas for interacting with students about loss - ultimately shoring up participants to more effectively address grief, loss, and trauma in schools. |
Teaching with Trauma in Mind
ZOOM October 16, 2025 (9:00 AM -12:00 PM) In this eye-opening training, K-12 educators will learn how trauma affects students’ brains and behaviors, and what can be done about it. Multiple easy-to-implement techniques for fostering resilient relationships, reducing emotional triggers, redirecting off-task behavior, and teaching self-regulation will be presented and practiced. Every participant will walk away personally rejuvenated and professionally inspired to meet the needs of their most fragile students. |
