Healthy Sleep for Growing Minds and Bodies
SHINE is a free monthly virtual education series created by Montana Pediatrics, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving child health across the state. The program supports educators, school nurses, and staff by providing expert-led discussions on topics related to student health, mental wellness, and school-based supports.
The SHINE series aims to strengthen the connection between health and education by offering practical, accessible professional learning. It helps equip educators, counselors, administrators, and support staff with the tools to better address student well-being and resilience.

What SHINE Offers:

Join us for an evidence-based session with Dr. Cara Palmer, Associate Professor of Psychology at Montana State University and director of the Sleep and Development Lab. Dr. Palmer will share insights from her extensive research on why many children and adolescents struggle to get adequate sleep, how sleep patterns influence emotional wellbeing and daily functioning, and practical strategies to support healthy sleep habits in youth. Participants will learn actionable approaches for promoting healthy sleep hygiene at home and school settings, and why prioritizing sleep is essential for children's overall health and academic success.
